This area of the Algarve has traditionally been harder to access until the last 7 years as road access was limited to the EN125 (no more than a UK B road). Now, with the opening of the motorway connection from Faro to the rest of the country, the Western Algarve, and particularly Lagos and Praia da Luz, have become easily accessible and very popular. The journey from faro now takes just a little under the hour, and this is comfortable and enjoyable.
