Dunas Douradas (literally meaning ‘golden sand dunes’ in Portuguese) is set in over 70 acres of African pine and orange groves which gently slope down to the Atlantic Ocean. Ideally situated at the edge of Quinta do Lago and in close proximity to Vale do Lobo, this beach-fronted development has been designed and constructed in the manner of a free flowing village, at the heart of which are the resort facilities, which in turn are surrounded by larger, more luxurious villas with private swimming pools. Dunas Douradas boasts facilities which are both impressive and excellent and which include a large roman-style pool (with separate and additional circular children's pool), a poolside bar for snacks and refreshments, a superb restaurant, tennis courts, children's play area, 24 hour Reception and security centre, cable television (mostly offering Sky TV channels) and a small but well equipped supermarket. There are popular open-air BBQs in the summertime - often with live entertainers and music.
The central pools of Dunas Douradas are supervised during the summer and there are also regularly organised tennis events. The beach, which is within approximately 10 minutes' walking distance of most properties on the resort, offers some of the best beach bars and restaurants to be found anywhere within Quinta do Lago or the Algarve in general. These cater for anything from morning coffee and snacks to a full meal with live musicians to serenade the clientele. Dunas Douradas has its own beach concession with sun-loungers, mattresses and umbrellas available at a reasonable charge. No property is over two storeys high and all are painted in traditional white and have a garden or terrace – all of the villas we offer at Dunas Douradas (or indeed Quinta do Lago in general) have their own swimming pools and BBQ areas.
With a tennis academy in nearby Vale do Lobo, Dunas Douradas would suit a family of sporting enthusiasts perfectly well as this is a destination providing plenty of sporting opportunities. Whether you want to play tennis or golf, horse ride or dive - holiday accommodation in Dunas Douradas will provide you with a choice of superb golf courses within a convenient distance, including those at Vilamoura, Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago.
